In celebration of World Environment Day 2025, observed globally on June 5 each year, organizations around the world came together to promote environmental conservation. This year, Foodhouse, in collaboration with Phyathai Hospital and PCS, organized the activity “Mangrove Reforestation Volunteer Day” at the Mangrove Conservation and Eco-tourism Center in Chonburi Province, a vital coastal ecosystem area in Thailand.
Restoring Vital Coastal Ecosystems
The initiative aimed to rehabilitate degraded mangrove forests and restore their natural richness. Volunteers planted a variety of local mangrove species, including Sonneratia (Lampoo), Avicennia (Samet), and Rhizophora (Kongkang). These plants play a crucial role in preventing coastal erosion, absorbing carbon dioxide, and serving as nurseries for marine life.
Beyond Tree Planting
In addition to mangrove planting, the program also featured:
Educational sessions on the importance of mangrove ecosystems
Environmental conservation workshops
Coastal clean-up activities to reduce waste and pollution
The event welcomed enthusiastic participation from employees of all three organizations as well as community volunteers, helping to build environmental awareness and responsibility at both corporate and individual levels.
A Model of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
Private sector engagement in activities like this reflects a strong commitment to social and environmental responsibility. In today’s world, where environmental issues are a global crisis, mangrove reforestation represents not only an expansion of green space but also a long-term investment in protecting natural resources and mitigating the effects of climate change.
Planting More Than Trees
The “Mangrove Reforestation Volunteer Day” was more than just a tree-planting activity. It was about planting hope, fostering collaboration, and nurturing environmental consciousness among all participants. Together, these efforts contribute to building a more sustainable and livable world—both today and for generations to come.
