Fry to Fly: Turning Used Cooking Oil into Sustainable Aviation Fuel

Foodhouse Catering Services Co., Ltd. is proud to be one of the key partners in the “Fry to Fly” initiative, joining forces with the Phyathai-Paolo Hospital Group, BSGF Co., Ltd., Bangkok Fuel Pipeline and Logistics Co., Ltd. (BFPL), and other strategic partners to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the management of used cooking oil from hospital food service operations. The collected oil will be transformed into Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) under Bangchak Group’s “Fry to Fly” project.

This collaboration represents a powerful integration of the healthcare, energy, and food service sectors in advancing the principles of the Circular Economy. By converting used cooking oil into a valuable feedstock for clean energy production, the initiative not only reduces operational waste but also contributes to greenhouse gas reduction and supports the transition toward a low-carbon economy.

As a leading provider of food and nutrition management services for hospitals, Foodhouse has continuously embraced ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles and the concept of Sustainable Healthcare. The company is committed to optimizing resource efficiency throughout the entire food service value chain, from menu planning and ingredient sourcing to portion control, food waste reduction, and the responsible management of by-products generated during food preparation.

Through its participation in the “Fry to Fly” project, Foodhouse takes another significant step toward transforming food production waste into valuable resources. This initiative supports broader goals of waste reduction, carbon emission reduction, and the development of environmentally responsible healthcare systems.

Foodhouse believes that sustainability begins with everyday operations and that every meal served can contribute to a positive impact on society, the environment, and the future of healthcare. By collaborating with partners across industries, Foodhouse remains committed to building a more sustainable healthcare ecosystem and creating long-term value for future generations.
